Were they living apart or was she visiting relatives? She left Violet as her executor. As Violet was also the informant on Horace's death, and she accopanied JEM on his (final) overseas tour to Jamaica in 1903, she was probably the capable, dependable one. Eleanor left her money to 'my three unmarried daughters, Violet, Rose and Eleanor Muddock', her furniture went to Eleanor, Ruth Eaton got to choose 'some of the Burmese brasses' and my daughter Dorothy Greenhough Smith may choose anything she would like amoungst my jewellery. The will was witnessed by Anne Rudd and Irene Dowson. She died on 03/09/1940 at 78 Chaucer Road, Bedford. At probate (17/02/1941) she has £400 11s 8d (about £40,000 in todays money). Violet as her executor, her address was given as Northampton Polytechnic, St John Street, London, EC.10 |
